Biography

Maryam Aljabri is a highly accomplished academic who has been in academia since 2009. She received the Bachelor of computer sciences from Sohar University, suhar, Oman in 2009 and the master’s degree in information technology from the Coventry university, UK, in 2014. She has experienced in teaching the Programming, Systems Analysis and Design, Database System, Advanced Programming, Mathematic, Database Administration. Between 2009 and 2014, she was a Teaching Assistant at Sohar University’s Faculty of Computing and IT. She has been working at Sohar University since 2015 as a lecturer in the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology. She conducts research in the fields of system programming, software engineering, data analysis and blockchain. Her teaching areas are System programming, Database System, blockchain, System development, Database Administration, Software Engineering and Data Analysis.

After the master journey ends, the search for the PhD started. Therefore, she is pursuing Ph.D. student at UNISEL, Malaysia. Therefore, she has attended and participated in research discussion in the International Seminar on 23rd May 2023 in AOU, Arab Open University in Muscat. Maryam participated at this seminar by presenting her research progress and discuss the results she finds from the contributed survey.

As a part of her research, she has attended several conferences, symposiums, and workshops, demonstrating a good contribution. For example, In November 2021, I participated in the International Conference on Sustainable Practices, Development, and Urbanization (IConSPADU) and I got best conference paper in conference. Maryam Aljabri has authored numerous works on blockchain. For example, Blockchain Technology Effects on Healthcare Systems Using the IoT, Blockchain Interoperability On Healthcare: A Systematic Review. She received a Vic-Chancellor outstanding achievement award 2021-2022.

Moreover, Maryam Aljabri has made significant contributions to the field of computer science through her research endeavours. She received the Graduate Research Grant, GRG, from the Oman Research Council with a cumulative value exceeding 3000 RO. Her intention is to contribute to innovative solutions and further advance her field as a result of this initiative.

In addition to her research and academic duties, Maryam has actively work as a team with other faculty members to achieve the goals by:

  • Participate with the Faculty Advisory Board committee by achieving requesting tasks.
  • Participate with the student’s cub coordinator by managing FCIT club activities.
  • Coordinate student activities.
  • Coordinate Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) activities.
  • Coordinate and manage all Hawaii training that offers to students and staff.
  • Guide students as an advisor to the main rules and regulations done by the university and the faculty.
  • Make workshops for the school’s students.

In her role as an academic advisor, Maryam provides students with accurate and detailed information regarding university policies, procedures, and services. In addition to advising students about their courses, registration, and grades, assist them in registering for courses and managing their accounts. Furthermore, assist them in planning and fulfilling university requirements as they progress towards graduation.

Therefore, as part of staff development Maryam attended the Centre od Education Development (CED). This center focus on the Early Career Techers Courses that covers main points starting with course design through writing the objectives as well as measurable learning outcomes and designing variety of teaching activities, Communication with students and how to engage them throughout the course. This development course also includes the different activities that could be used to enhance the students learning experience. In addition to designing good assessments and using variety of assessments that are mapped to course learning outcomes.

Overall, Maryam’s leadership skills, computing and IT expertise, and contribution to research make her highly respected as a member of the Computing and IT department.
