Biography

Dr Falah obtained his Master’s degree in 2009 and a PhD in 2013 from the esteemed University Technology Malaysia (UTM) in the field of Artificial Intelligence. During his time at UTM, he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills as a chaired the Postgraduate Annual Research Seminar from 2010 to 2012, where he facilitated the postgraduate student’s research findings’ pitching competition with fellow scholars and experts. Additionally, he served as the President of the International Student Society from 2011 to 2013, fostering a vibrant multicultural environment at the university.

Following his academic pursuits, from 2013 to 2014, Dr Falah served as a Senior Lecturer at Cihan University in Erbil-Kurdistan Iraq. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he played a pivotal role in the development of the university’s strategic committees, showcasing his leadership and strategic thinking abilities. Moreover Dr Falah embarked on an illustrious career as a senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) at Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia, from 2014 to 2021. Throughout his tenure, he made significant contributions to the field of Artificial Intelligence through his diverse research interests.

Dr Falah’s research endeavors have encompassed a wide range of areas, with a specific focus on enhancing neural network algorithms and classification data. He has delved into the exploration and utilization of spiking neural networks for classification datasets and machine learning applications. Furthermore, he has actively engaged in the realm of big data analytics and GPU-based computing, exploring innovative techniques to harness the potential of vast datasets. His expertise in these domains has led to the publication of numerous high-quality research articles in prestigious international journals and conferences more than 75 papers. Recognized for his scholarly contributions, Dr Falah has served as an expert Editor and Member for the two International Journals where he has played a crucial role in shaping the discourse of the field. In addition, he has supervised and mentored 70 bachelors in their final year projects and 18 postgraduate students in their research as master and PhD, providing guidance and fostering their research capabilities. Presently, Dr Falah collaborates with a talented team of postgraduate students from various international universities, further advancing the frontiers of knowledge in his area of expertise.

Dr Falah’s dedication to education extends beyond research. He has exhibited his passion for teaching by delivering courses on several core subjects at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His instructional repertoire includes Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Research Methodology, Data Structure Algorithm, Digital Investigation, and Database System Development. By imparting his knowledge and expertise, Dr Falah has nurtured countless students, equipping them with the necessary skills to excel in the field of computing.

Dr Falah has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing complex challenges through his active participation in various research projects. His expertise and versatility in the field of Artificial Intelligence, coupled with his profound understanding of topics such as big data analytics, machines learning, deep learning, data classification, and recognition, have made him a valuable asset as a co-investigator in these initiatives. Dr Falah serves as the principal investigator is a research grant focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) utilizing the Furhat robot. This project not only showcases Dr Falah’s expertise in NLP but also highlights his innovative approach to leveraging robotics for practical applications.

Dr Falah has actively collaborated on various undergraduate research grants at Sohar University. These projects encompass a wide range of topics related to Artificial Intelligence, including but not limited to big data analytics, soft computing, and data classification and recognition. As a co-investigator, Dr Falah provides valuable insights and expertise, contributing to the successful execution and outcomes of these research endeavors. Currently, Dr Falah holds the esteemed position of research coordinator in the Faculty of Computing and IT at Sohar University, Oman, a role he assumed in 2021. In this capacity, he continues to lead and inspire researchers, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and academic excellence.
