Sohar University Concludes Entrepreneurship Forum

Entrepreneurship Forum

Sohar University has concluded the Entrepreneurship Forum, which were held on campus under the patronage of Dr. Awadh Al Mamari, with wide participation from students and individuals interested in entrepreneurship.

The forum was organized as an initiative by students of the Entrepreneurship Club, in collaboration with the Faculty of Business and the Student Activities Department, as part of efforts to strengthen integration between academic and student initiatives in supporting entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity.

The forum included a series of specialized workshops. Among them was a session titled “Financial Stability Awareness Session,” delivered by Ms. Samiha Al Balushi, Senior Training and Development Specialist at Sohar International Academy. Another workshop titled “Project Planning and Execution Management” was presented by Ms. Noura Al Jahwari, Lecturer at the Faculty of Business at Sohar University. These workshops aimed to enhance students’ entrepreneurial skills, enable them to develop their ideas and transform them into practical projects, and provide opportunities for participants to exchange knowledge and experiences.

The forum also witnessed the announcement of the results of the Best Entrepreneurial Idea Competition, which aims to motivate students to present innovative ideas and projects that promote an entrepreneurial culture and strengthen their spirit of initiative. First place was awarded to the project “Aman,” an interactive hologram solution for occupational safety that uses a smart system to display safety guidelines in high-risk work environments. Second place went to “Sharfa,” an Omani digital tourism platform that connects leading local digital platforms offering tourism services, along with activity providers and artisans, to deliver an integrated tourism experience reflecting Omani identity and facilitating the visitor journey from planning to documentation. Third place was awarded to “Qatra,” a student project that addresses water management challenges through an innovative smart meter designed specifically for water transport and distribution companies to monitor their networks more efficiently, rather than for household use.

The event also featured an exhibition of student companies and projects, where students showcased their innovations and entrepreneurial ideas in an interactive environment that enabled them to present their projects to visitors and enhance their presentation and marketing skills.

The organization of this forum underscores the importance of supporting and empowering youth potential and creating an environment that fosters creativity and innovation, contributing to the development of an entrepreneurial generation capable of meeting labor market demands.
