The Arabic Language Centre at Sohar University has welcomed a new batch of international students from Ankara University in the Republic of Türkiye and Ufa University of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation. This initiative comes as part of the University’s academic partnerships with leading international universities and its ongoing efforts to strengthen its position as a regional center for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.
The program is designed to equip students with essential language skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing, while also introducing them to Omani and Arab culture through an integrated academic and cultural program. The program includes a variety of activities, events, and field visits that enrich students’ educational and cultural experiences.
Through its Arabic Language Centre, Sohar University is committed to providing a supportive learning environment that combines academic excellence with cultural openness. This approach promotes mutual understanding among different cultures and reinforces the status of the Arabic language as a language of knowledge, culture, and communication.
Ms. Shaikha Khalifa Al Maamari, Administrator at the Center for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers at Sohar University, stated that welcoming this new group of international students reflects the University’s continued efforts to expand its international academic partnerships. She emphasized that the Center is dedicated to providing a comprehensive educational experience that combines academic excellence with cultural immersion, enabling students to develop their Arabic language skills while gaining first-hand exposure to Omani culture in a stimulating learning environment.
She added that the Center has designed a comprehensive program featuring cultural and recreational activities, as well as educational field visits, to enrich the students’ overall experience and ensure the successful achievement of the program’s objectives.
