Sohar University Leads Private Universities in Oman in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2026

Sohar University has achieved a new national milestone by ranking first among private universities in the Sultanate of Oman in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2026, one of the most important global classifications that assess universities’ performance in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability. This achievement reflects the University’s strong commitment to applying the principles of sustainable development and enhancing its responsibility toward society and the environment, in alignment with Oman Vision 2040 and its institutional five-year strategy.

According to the results, Sohar University ranked:

  • 1st among private universities in Oman
  • 2nd nationwide
  • 265th in Asia
  • 812th globally

This advancement highlights the University’s growing position in adopting global best practices in sustainability—whether through its research projects, environmental initiatives, governance and social responsibility programs, or investments in sustainable infrastructure and community-impact student activities.

The University emphasized that this achievement represents an important step toward regional leadership. It also reflects the collective efforts of students, academics, and administrative staff in creating a sustainable campus environment that supports innovation and contributes to building a knowledge-based economy.
