In line with its strategic plan to enhance its global standing and expand its presence, Sohar University is participating as a Silver Sponsor in the QS Higher Education Summit: Middle East 2025, held from April 20 to 22, 2025, at Gulf University for Science and Technology in Kuwait. The summit is held under the theme “Society 5.0: Higher Education and Skills for a Human-Centered Future”, focusing on how universities can contribute to shaping Society 5.0, ensuring that human beings remain at the heart of technological advancement.
Through this participation, Sohar University—alongside other regional and international institutions—aims to explore how universities can play a pivotal role in developing and shaping Society 5.0. The goal is to ensure that people benefit first and foremost from technological progress, reflecting the university’s commitment as a leading educational institution to making academic and research contributions central to societal development and human well-being.
It is worth noting that Sohar University has achieved remarkable success in recent years, becoming the first private university in the Sultanate of Oman to enter the QS World University Rankings. It also ranked first among private higher education institutions in Oman in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2025, based on outstanding performance across several key indicators. Furthermore, the university was awarded a Five-Star Rating in the QS Stars Rating System, recognizing its excellence in higher education and research performance.
