Dr Mohamed Abdelhamid
Biography
Dr. Mohamed Abdelhamid is an Assistant Professor of Biotechnology with a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology from Hiroshima University, Japan. Before joining Sohar University, he served as an Associate Professor at Minia University and as a Research Professor at Korea University, gaining extensive academic and research experience. His research spans marine science, molecular biotechnology, and environmental sustainability, with particular emphasis on extremophilic marine microorganisms, carbonic anhydrases, marine barnacle bioadhesives, and bioinspired biomaterials, aiming to develop innovative solutions for CO₂ capture, marine pollution remediation, circular blue economy strategies, and advanced applications in biocatalyst engineering, bone regeneration, and drug delivery. He has led and contributed to multidisciplinary projects in marine biomineralization, enzymatic biocatalysts, microalgal biomass valorization, marine diatoms, green nanotechnology, and micropollutant degradation. With four patents and more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, he maintains a strong record of translational, application-oriented research and brings international teaching and mentoring experience across Korea, Egypt, and Oman, with a continued commitment to advancing sustainable biotechnology solutions.
