Sohar University is organizing the 23rd Student Week from 5 to 9 April 2026, with wide participation from students. This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to developing students’ skills and enhancing their engagement in extracurricular activities that contribute to building well-rounded personalities. The Student Week was inaugurated under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Badr bin Hamoud Al Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education.
The week’s activities commenced with an official opening ceremony held at the University campus, followed by a rich program of cultural, artistic, and sports events aimed at showcasing students’ talents and promoting a spirit of positive competition among them.
The opening ceremony featured various segments highlighting student talents. Dr. Awadh Al Mamari, Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, stated: “When we speak about Sohar University students, we are not referring to mere numbers or ordinary achievements; rather, we are talking about a success story written every day, and about young energies that have proven their ability to compete and achieve excellence across all platforms. Our students have demonstrated that they do not limit themselves to the local level, but confidently go beyond it to secure advanced positions at both regional and international levels, proudly representing the University and the nation.”
He added: “A careful review of this academic year reveals an unprecedented qualitative leap, with the percentage of championships and awards exceeding 100% compared to last year. This is not just a passing figure, but a real indicator of a significant transformation in performance levels and the maturity of the student experience at our University. When we look at these achievements throughout the academic weeks, we find that Sohar University students achieve at least one accomplishment every week—yes, a renewed achievement week after week, as if excellence has become a habit and success a consistent approach. What we see today is a clear reflection of a well-established institutional culture that believes in students and empowers them to excel, making Sohar University students a model of ambition, contribution, and excellence.”
The week also featured a variety of student exhibitions, including the Student Clubs and Societies Exhibition, Fine Arts Exhibition, Photography Exhibition, Innovation Exhibition, and Student Companies Exhibition, in addition to scouting skills training stations. These activities provided students with opportunities to showcase their creativity and projects to the university community.
The program further included a range of competitions and distinctive activities, such as the Student Creativity Competition, Innovation Ideas Competition, Table Tennis Championship, Chess Championship, Debate Championship, and Public Speaking Competition. It also included training workshops focused on project planning and execution management, as well as awareness workshops addressing important topics such as financial stability and entrepreneurship.
The organization of Student Week aligns with Sohar University’s efforts to provide an integrated educational environment that combines academic achievement with purposeful activities, contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of innovation and competitiveness across various fields.
