As part of its commitment to enriching students’ educational experience and broadening their exposure to international practices, Sohar University organized a scientific and cultural trip for outstanding students to the Republic of Korea. The trip featured a comprehensive program combining academic, cultural, and industrial visits, aimed at expanding students’ knowledge, enhancing their skills, and providing them with practical exposure to advanced educational and economic environments.
The program, which extended over several days, included visits to some of the most prominent academic and cultural landmarks in the capital, Seoul. Students explored Korea’s rich cultural heritage through visits to Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Folk Museum of Korea, and traditional heritage villages. They also visited key cultural and recreational attractions across the city, enriching their understanding of Korean culture and history.
The program included a visit to Seoul National University (SNU), one of South Korea’s leading universities, where students had the opportunity to explore its academic environment and educational facilities. The delegation also visited the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Seoul, providing students with insights into Oman’s diplomatic role abroad and strengthening their connection with national institutions.
On the industrial side, the program featured field visits to Ulsan, one of South Korea’s most important industrial cities. Students were introduced to the S-Oil and SK Energy petroleum and petrochemical complexes and visited Ulsan Port. They also viewed Hyundai’s automobile manufacturing facilities and shipyards, providing valuable exposure to international practices in industry, energy, manufacturing, and advanced technologies.
The program also included a visit to the National Maritime Museum in Busan, along with a number of cultural and tourist attractions. In Seoul, students explored landmarks associated with innovation and digital media, creating a balanced experience that combined academic, cultural, industrial, and recreational dimensions and offered an integrated learning experience beyond the classroom. This initiative forms part of Sohar University’s efforts to recognize academically outstanding students and provide them with international learning opportunities that broaden their horizons, develop their leadership skills, and promote cultural and knowledge exchange. It aligns with the University’s vision of preparing graduates who possess strong academic competencies and global awareness and who are capable of contributing to sustainable development and serving their communities.
