Sohar University alumni Wins Gold Medal at International Innovation Exhibition in Malaysia

Sohar University alumni Nahia Al Hamdani achieved a remarkable international accomplishment by winning the Gold Medal at ITEX 2026, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She received the award for her innovative project, SenseGlass, in the field of assistive technologies.

SenseGlass is a smart eyewear solution supported by an integrated application and powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The project was designed to empower blind and visually impaired individuals to interact with their surroundings more easily and safely by providing innovative technological solutions that enhance their independence and improve their quality of life.

This achievement came after strong competition at the exhibition, which attracted innovators and researchers from around the world. The project captured the attention of the judging panels due to its humanitarian focus and its effective use of advanced technologies to serve an important segment of society.

The accomplishment reflects the advanced level attained by Sohar University students in the fields of innovation and scientific research, as well as the University’s commitment to developing students’ capabilities and encouraging their participation in international forums.
