Third Administrators’ Forum for Higher Education Institutions

As part of its ongoing efforts to empower administrative staff in higher education and enhance their contribution to financial sustainability and investment strategies, Sohar University, represented by the Human Resources Department – Staff Development Section, organized the Third Administrators’ Forum for Higher Education Institutions 2025 on Thursday, May 8, 2025, under the theme: “Financial Sustainability and Investment Enhancement in Higher Education Institutions in the Sultanate of Oman – Visions and Aspirations.”

The forum targeted professionals and administrative staff from higher education institutions, aiming to promote knowledge exchange, showcase best practices in financial sustainability and investment, and encourage strategic thinking to develop sustainable investment models that align with the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040.

The program featured a variety of presentations and panel discussions. It began with a welcoming address by Dr. Marym Al Amri, General Director of Human Resources Department at Sohar University, followed by a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Omar Al Jabri, an academic and expert in natural resource economics from Sultan Qaboos University, focusing on financial sustainability in higher education institutions.

The forum addressed three main topics: Innovation and its role in enhancing investment, presented by Ms. Najah Al Rashdi, Director General of the Innovation Center at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. In addition to the Opportunities for income diversification and strengthening local and global partnerships, presented by Dr. Mohamed Al Rawahi from the Oman Investment Authority. Self-financing in higher education institutions: The experience of Sultan Qaboos University, presented by Ms. Noora Al Busaidi from Sultan Qaboos University.

The event concluded with a panel discussion that explored the future of investment in higher education and the readiness of institutions to transition toward sustainable funding models.

This forum reflects Sohar University’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable development and institutional empowerment, while reinforcing its role as a leading platform for knowledge exchange and professional development within Oman’s higher education sector.
