Sohar University, represented by the Student Affairs Department participated in the program titled “The Art of Debating and Building Arguments” held in Doha, State of Qatar, with the participation of youth from various Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The program was initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth to honor students who were recognized as the best speakers in the National Debate Championship among higher education institutions in the Sultanate.
The program aimed to enhance participants’ skills in the art of debate, public speaking, and logical argumentation, while promoting a culture of dialogue and critical thinking. It included training workshops and practical exercises focused on the principles of debating, ethics, persuasion, and presentation skills.
Sohar University was represented by students Bayan Al Maamari and Taif Al Darmaki, along with Ms. Maryam Al Balushi, the supervisor of the Sohar University Debate Club. The students expressed that their participation provided valuable experience, helping them develop new skills in communication, logical analysis, and confidence in expressing opinions. They also highlighted the importance of exchanging knowledge and experiences with other GCC youth, which strengthened the spirit of brotherhood and Gulf unity.
This participation marks a valuable addition to the students’ academic and personal journey and reaffirms Sohar University’s commitment to developing its students’ capabilities and representing the Sultanate honorably in regional platforms.
