The Environmental Research Session is a multidisciplinary academic initiative that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Oman’s national development priorities. It brings together researchers from diverse disciplines to apply expertise in environmental engineering, mathematical modelling, and sustainable environmental management to address critical environmental challenges relevant to resource efficiency, climate resilience, water and waste management, clean energy, and sustainable development.

Dr. Abdullah Al Abri

Dr. Abdullah Sulaiman Al Abri , a leading international expert in energy transition and sustainability, is currently serving as Vice President for Sustainability at SOHAR Port and Freezone, Oman. In this role, he leads the strategic integration of sustainability across one of the region’s most significant industrial and logistics hubs, advancing initiatives in clean energy deployment, industrial decarbonization, and green hydrogen development in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Oman Vision 2040.

Professor Khalifa Al Jabri

Professor Khalifa Al Jabri is a Professor of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield, UK. Ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists, his research focuses on sustainable materials, structural fire engineering, earthquake engineering, and infrastructure sustainability.

Honourable Dr Aisha Al Darmaki is a Member of the State Council of Oman and an Assistant Professor at Arab Open University, Muscat, with academic expertise and contributions in higher education and public service.

Dr. Musab Al Rawi is Director of the ICESCO Chair for Artificial Intelligence Ethics and an academic with over 12 years of experience in computer technology and robotics engineering. His research focuses on AI governance, ethics, fairness, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in education, public policy, and digital transformation
