Sohar University has achieved yet another milestone that reflects its leadership and continuous progress in university performance indicators, climbing 63 places in the Times Higher Education (THE) Arab University Rankings 2026 to secure the 5st position in the Arab world — one of the largest leaps achieved within a single year.
This remarkable accomplishment highlights the University’s strength in education, scientific research, and innovation, in addition to the quality of its academic environment and its ability to build impactful partnerships. It also reflects the outstanding performance of its students and faculty, and the University’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic programs, strengthen research output, and promote innovation and community service.
Sohar University affirmed that this exceptional progress is the result of its Five-Year Strategic Plan (2023–2028), which focuses on elevating the quality of education, advancing applied scientific research, enhancing sustainability and international partnerships, and building an inspiring learning environment aligned with the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 toward a knowledge-driven economy.
This ranking adds to the University’s growing record of national and international achievements and serves as a strong motivator to continue its journey toward excellence, further solidifying its position as one of the leading higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman and the wider region.
