Sohar University signed a memorandum of understanding with NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, Pakistan, represented by the Sultan Qaboos Chair for Information Technology, to enhance cooperation in scientific research and innovation. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the international symposium on Arab and international scientific cooperation in research and innovation, in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Sohar University by Dr. Hamdan bin Suleiman Al-Fazari, the university Vice Chancellor, and on behalf of NED University of Engineering and Technology by Dr. Saad Ahmed Qazi, representative of the Sultan Qaboos Chair for Information Technology.

Where the areas of cooperation included microchip design to enhance innovation in this field. And developing computer vision systems to assist the blind using artificial intelligence. And creating artificial intelligence systems compatible with Arab and Islamic environments.

This agreement reflects the commitment of Sohar University to support scientific research and technology, in line with Oman Vision 2040, and is expected to result in research projects and training programs that contribute to the development of scientific competencies.
