Sustainable Construction Materials Lab

Sohar University has officially opened the Sustainable Construction Materials Lab (SCM²Lab), a specialized facility aimed at testing and analyzing industrial by-products for sustainable use in construction materials. The lab will support faculty and student research in areas related to sustainability and the circular economy.

At the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Hamdan Al Fazari highlighted the critical role of research and innovation in advancing societal, economic, and environmental development. He stressed the importance of strengthening ties between academia and industry, promoting the commercialization of research, and encouraging patent registration.

Project Leader Dr. Mohsin Qureshi outlined the lab’s goals, emphasizing its potential to transfer knowledge and benefit the community through applied research. Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Ghassan Al Kindi also addressed the gathering, underlining the role of innovation in driving sustainable practices.

The SCM²Lab is expected to become a key hub for experimental research in sustainable construction, empowering students and researchers with advanced resources to contribute to greener building solutions.
