Sohar University, represented by the Career Guidance and Alumni Services, organized the Alumni Day 2025 on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the university campus under the patronage of H.E. Mahmood bin Abdullah Al-Owaini, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance.
This event was held with the aim of strengthening ties with the university’s graduates and fostering ongoing communication, in a way that supports their professional journeys and enables them to build effective networks and career opportunities.
Approximately 150 alumni from various academic programs attended the event. They had the opportunity to engage with academic and administrative staff, share their post-graduation professional experiences, and learn about the university’s latest updates and development initiatives.
The event began with an official opening ceremony, where Dr. Hamdan bin Sulaiman Al-Fazari, Chancellor of Sohar University, delivered a welcoming speech.
Following the speech, the Alumni Association identity was officially launched. The ceremony included a success story presentation by alumna Ibtehal Al-Shibli, Branch Manager at Bank Dhofar, who shared her academic journey and professional growth.
The event also featured a panel discussion titled: “Graduates: Between the Challenges of the Job Market and Opportunities for Innovation”, with the participation of prominent figures including Mr. Ahmed Al-Buraiki, Dr. Omar Al-Mazrouei, Engineer Adel Al-Hinai, and Mr. Salem Al-Sabri.
On the sidelines of the event, several exhibitions were held, including a display on the evolution of graduation attire, a photography gallery, and a graduate talent exhibition. The event also featured a musical performance and interactive icebreaker activities, which received significant engagement and enthusiasm from attendees.
This annual gathering reflects Sohar University’s ongoing commitment to fostering alumni belonging, in line with its strategic vision to build sustainable relationships with its graduates, and to benefit from their experiences in supporting the university’s academic and professional development.
