Saturday, Sohar University organised an induction programme for new postgraduate students for the new academic year 2025/2026. The event was attended by Dr Hamdan Al Fazari, the university’s VC, and Dr Dawood Al Hamdani, Dean of Postgraduate Centre. The programme aimed to introduce students to the university environment, its systems, and to enable them to benefit from the various activities and services offered by Sohar University.
The programme began with an introductory video about the university, its facilities, and its academic and service achievements. This was followed by a speech from Dr Hamdan bin Sulaiman Al Fazari, VC of Sohar University, who welcomed the new students and emphasised the importance of scientific research and innovation. Dr Dawood Al Hamdani, Dean of Postgraduate Centre, then reviewed the centre’s services, responsibilities, and its key roles in enhancing the student’s university experience, as well as the most important postgraduate policies at the university. A current postgraduate student also spoke about her experience studying for her PhD at Sohar University until her graduation.
The programme included various segments, such as an introduction to student support services. Students also learned about admission and registration, finance, health and safety, learning resources, and information technology. The programme concluded with an open meeting with the Faculties Deans and the coordinators of the postgraduate programmes.
