Sohar University saw a range of diverse activities and events organised during the summer recess, targeting students from both within and outside the university. This included sending a number of university students abroad, as well as hosting international students for study and training at the university.
The Student Exchange Programme was one of the most notable of these initiatives. The university hosted 17 students from several Arab countries and Malaysia, while 14 Sohar University students were sent to universities in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Iraq, and Malaysia, with the aim of benefiting from the academic expertise and educational experiences in those countries.
The closing ceremony for the Student Exchange Programme activities was held on campus under the patronage of Dr. Hamdan bin Sulaiman Al Fazari, the University Vice-Chancellor. The ceremony featured presentations by the participating students showcasing their main achievements and experiences gained during the programme.
The programme incorporated comprehensive training, including in-house training at the university and practical fieldwork at private sector institutions, in addition to various workshops focused on developing practical and personal skills. It also included field visits to leading industrial institutions and recreational programmes that helped enhance cultural and social communication among the students. At the close of the ceremony, participants were awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their efforts and commitment. The programme represents a proactive step in supporting student cooperation and opening new horizons for young people to contribute to the building of their societies through knowledge, expertise, and learning.
