Sohar University Receives Institutional Reaccreditation from the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education

Institutional Reaccreditation OAQA

Sohar University has been granted institutional reaccreditation by the Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education (OAQA) after successfully meeting the institutional evaluation requirements in accordance with the authority’s approved accreditation procedures. This achievement reflects the University’s continued commitment to quality assurance, effective governance, and academic excellence.

The reaccreditation was awarded following a comprehensive evaluation process based on six key institutional standards, namely: Governance and Management; Academic Affairs and Resources; Students and Student Support Services; Human Resources; Research and Innovation; and External Engagement and Partnerships. Sohar University successfully met all requirements of these standards and achieved compliance with all forty-five accreditation criteria within the institutional evaluation framework.

The evaluation process included an independent external review, involving a detailed assessment of institutional reports and supporting documentation, as well as a site visit conducted by an external review panel to the University’s campus. During the visit, the panel reviewed various academic, administrative, and research practices and met with University leadership, academic staff, students, and external stakeholders.

The Board of Directors of the Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education approved the reaccreditation decision in March 2026, affirming the University’s adherence to best practices in academic governance and quality assurance.

The institutional accreditation is valid for five years, further strengthening Sohar University’s position as a higher education institution committed to continuous improvement, quality enhancement, and the delivery of academic and research programs aligned with national development priorities and labour market needs.

Dr Hamdan Al-Fazari extended his congratulations to the Board of Governors, the Board of Trustees, the academic and administrative staff, the University’s students and alumni, as well as partners and stakeholders on this achievement, emphasizing that obtaining the institutional reaccreditation reflects the collective efforts and the continued commitment to institutional excellence, quality enhancement, and sustainable development.

This achievement reflects the University’s ongoing efforts to advance the quality of higher education while fostering an integrated academic and research environment that supports innovation and strategic partnerships, ultimately preparing graduates equipped with the skills and competencies required to contribute effectively to society and sustainable development.
