As part of its commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and protecting intellectual property rights, Sohar University, represented by the Technology Transfer and Incubation Centre, organized a specialized workshop titled “Discover the Power of Intellectual Property”. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Muhanna Al-Zuheimi, A key Intellectual Property expert, promotes innovation in Oman, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the university campus. The event targeted academic staff and postgraduate students, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to disseminate knowledge and enhance research skills.
The workshop covered several key topics, including: Patent registration and strategies for protecting innovations, Intellectual property rights and the associated legal framework, Revenue-sharing procedures and how to gain financial benefits from innovations, Compliance with institutional policies and regulatory frameworks, and Innovation marketing and the transformation of academic research into practical applications.
The primary goal of the workshop was to raise awareness among academics and researchers about the importance of protecting their scientific and intellectual output, while also encouraging them to contribute to value creation through innovation and creativity. This initiative aligns with Sohar University’s strategic direction and focus on scientific research and innovation.
