In a strategic move to support national digital transformation and cultivate competitive technological expertise, Sohar University has announced the launch of its Master of Information Technology (by Research) program. This program is designed to offer a contemporary educational experience that keeps pace with the latest advancements in information technology and aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The program adopts an applied, project-based learning approach, providing students with the opportunity to acquire advanced technical skills and practical knowledge that will enable them to excel in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Data Science, Data Analytics and Solutions Engineering, as well as Cloud Computing, Application Development, and Databases.
This program allows students to specialize in multiple cutting-edge technological fields, enhancing their employment prospects both locally and internationally. It also opens up broad horizons for them in entrepreneurship, scientific research, and academic teaching. The program spans two academic years. The first semester includes a single lecture-based course conducted on weekends, alongside research requirements, followed by three semesters dedicated entirely to research. This structure offers students significant flexibility in their studies, allowing them to balance their work or other commitments while fulfilling the program’s requirements.
Furthermore, the program is distinguished by its provision of research support and advanced facilities, which contribute to enriching the environment of innovation and creativity within the university. Students in the program will have opportunities for practical training and collaboration with professional and academic institutions, in addition to academic supervision from a select group of specialized experts in information technology fields. This enhances the quality of educational outcomes and prepares students to enter the job market with confidence and competence.
