As part of its pivotal role in community service and strengthening partnerships with local institutions, Dr. Hamdan bin Suleiman Al Fazari, Vice Chancellor of Sohar University, met with Eng. Saeed bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in North Al Batinah Governorate, at the Chamber’s headquarters in Sohar, with the participation of specialists from both sides.
The meeting followed up on the economic and regulatory study prepared by Sohar University regarding the establishment of an integrated car sales hub in Sohar, aimed at supporting re-export activities and international trade, and enhancing the Governorate’s commercial infrastructure. A team of experts from the University’s faculty of Business Administration delivered a detailed presentation on the study’s outcomes, including a comprehensive analysis of project requirements and prospects for success.
The presentation addressed the project’s proposed economic and regulatory dimensions, its expected role in stimulating commercial activity, attracting investment, supporting the logistics sector, and strengthening Sohar’s position as a regional hub for trade and re-export—aligned with national economic diversification priorities and development plans for North Al Batinah.
The meeting underscored the importance of integrating academic and economic sector roles and leveraging scientific studies to support decision-making and develop projects with tangible economic and social impact, reinforcing Sohar University’s role in providing applied, research-based solutions that serve local community needs.
