Sohar University at Arabic Calligraphy Festival in Iraq

Arabic Calligraphy Festival in Iraq

As part of its ongoing commitment to nurturing student talent and encouraging participation in international events, Sohar University student Bassem bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bahrani took part in the International Student Festival for Arabic Calligraphy in the Republic of Iraq, the first international event for Islamic visual arts held in Iraq from February 9 to 15, 2026, with broad participation from over 14 countries worldwide.

The festival aims to support young talent, highlight the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy, and promote cultural exchange among participating nations. The event featured a series of specialized workshops, panel discussions, and art exhibitions in which participants showcased their work across various schools of Arabic calligraphy, while exchanging expertise with fellow students and specialist calligraphers.

The experience offered Bassem Al Bahrani a valuable opportunity to explore diverse international perspectives on Arabic calligraphy, engage with students and experts from different cultural backgrounds, and further develop his artistic skills and creative vision.

This participation reflects Sohar University’s dedication to empowering its students to represent the Sultanate of Oman on the international stage, reinforcing their academic and cultural presence in line with the university’s vision of developing distinguished graduates capable of making a meaningful contribution to society, both locally and globally.
