In response to the invitation from the State Council, the council, chaired by the esteemed Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sarmi, Chairman of the Education and Research Committee, and attended by the esteemed committee members, hosted a delegation from Sohar University. The delegation included Dr. Hamdan bin Suleiman Al-Fazari, the university Vice Chancellor, along with several officials and faculty of Education and Arts members, to discuss Sohar University’s practices in enhancing academic achievement in school education and the proficiency of school teachers in teaching competencies.
The committee discussed with the university the policies and strategies adopted by the university to improve the quality of diploma in teacher preparation, and the mechanisms used to enhance the integration and connection between the diploma in teacher preparation programs and the educational qualification System. In addition to the university’s contributions in the field of improving academic achievement in school education, and the legislative challenges that hinder the improvement of the quality of teacher preparation programs.
The meeting also discussed the research studies conducted by the university on strategies to improve academic achievement in school education, the university’s proposals and recommendations in the field of legislation to enhance the quality of teacher preparation programs, specialists’ recommendations on mechanisms to improve academic achievement in school education, and the development of students’ progress in international tests in which the Sultanate participates.
The Sohar University team appreciated the efforts made by the honored members of the Education and Research Committee of the State Council in ensuring the existence of policies and procedures followed by the university to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process and related research in educational specialties.
