About the Department

The Quality Assurance, Planning, and Accreditation Department (QAPAD) is the driving force behind quality and excellence at Sohar University, fostering continuous improvement across all academic and administrative areas. It leads strategic planning, monitors performance, and empowers departments to align with the University’s vision.

Through expert training and guidance, QAPAD ensures compliance with the requirements of the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA), the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI), and international accreditation standards. It also manages key institutional documents and conducts internal reviews to uphold high-quality performance and promote a culture of enhancement, accountability, and growth.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of quality across Sohar University.
  • Manage the Policy Management System.
  • Oversee internal reviews and external accreditation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with academic standards and national frameworks.
  • Support the implementation of surveys and other feedback tools.
  • Oversee benchmarking activities.
  • Provide guidance and training on quality-related matters.
  • Lead strategic and operational planning and monitor KPI achievement.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making and risk management.

Services

  • Internal Quality Review:
    Evaluate academic and administrative units to ensure adherence to institutional policies and standards.
  • External Review Coordination:
    Organize and support external evaluations by accreditation bodies or peer reviewers to validate quality and performance.
  • Accreditation Support:
    Prepare for national and international accreditations, including documentation review, evidence collection, and coordination.
  • Strategic and Operational Planning:
    Develop and oversee both strategic and operational planning initiatives; report on KPIs to ensure alignment with the University’s mission and vision.
  • Policy and Procedure Management:
    Develop, review, and update institutional policies; ensure proper dissemination and documentation control.
  • Training and Capacity Building:
    Conduct workshops and sessions on quality assurance and institutional effectiveness.
  • Survey Design and Analysis:
    Design and analyze surveys (e.g., Teaching and Learning Student Survey, General Student Services Survey) to inform decision-making.
  • Benchmarking and Best Practices:
    Compare institutional performance against national and international standards and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Risk Management Coordination:
    Assist units in identifying and managing institutional risks that could impact quality and performance.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    Prepare institutional reports, self-study documents, and improvement plans for internal and external stakeholders.
