As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with the labor market and evaluate the alignment of higher education outcomes with national workforce needs, Sohar University, represented by the Career Guidance and Alumni Services, participated in the announcement ceremony of the Employer Survey 2025 results. The event was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Rahma Al Mahrooqi, with the attendance of senior officials, representatives from educational institutions, and various economic sectors.
During the ceremony, Her Excellency expressed her optimism regarding the survey results, which indicated increased cooperation and responsibility from the private sector. According to the findings, 64% of employers reported hiring Omani graduates from higher education institutions, demonstrating growing confidence in the sustainability of employing national talent. The results also revealed that 47% of graduates entered the labor market without prior work experience, reflecting the willingness of companies to invest in on-the-job training and skill development for newly hired graduates.
Aligned with Sohar University’s strategic objective of enhancing graduate employability and ensuring alignment between educational outcomes and the needs of both public and private sectors, the University emphasizes the importance of its participation in this national survey. The initiative supports monitoring the professional trajectories of its graduates and identifying future challenges and opportunities. This participation is part of the University’s commitment to supporting sustainable national development by preparing a qualified generation capable of contributing to a knowledge-based economy.
Furthermore, this step reflects the University’s strategic direction toward building strong partnerships with various institutions and reinforcing its role in knowledge-based, skills-driven education that aligns with both local and international labor market requirements.
