As part of its ongoing efforts to align educational outcomes with labor market needs, Sohar University organized the Career Training Fair 2026 from 2 to 4 February 2026 on its campus. The forum aimed to enhance and refine the professional skills of students and graduates, preparing them for effective entry into the labor market. The event was supported by the Omani Electricity Transmission Company and Al Badi Group.

The forum served as an interactive platform to raise career awareness, showcase training and qualification opportunities, and build strong links between students and the labor market.
Activities commenced with the opening of an exhibition by participating institutions, providing students with opportunities to learn about available training programs, employment requirements, and future career pathways.
The forum also featured a rich program of specialized workshops held over three days, covering topics such as transitioning from university to the labor market, trends in the Omani labor market, entrepreneurship and freelancing as emerging career options, communication and leadership, the power of professional networking and personal branding, English in the workplace, artificial intelligence, and emotional intelligence. These workshops were delivered by a distinguished group of specialists and experts in training and professional development, equipping participants with practical and cognitive skills to enhance their employability and competitiveness.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Awadh Al Maamari, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs, stated that the Career Training Fair 2026 serves as a strategic platform linking Sohar University students with the labor market by introducing them to training opportunities across various sectors in line with future requirements. He noted that the forum aims to empower students with practical skills and professional experience prior to graduation, enhance their workplace readiness, and provide valuable opportunities for direct engagement with training providers and employers to support their future career paths. The organization of the Career Training Fair 2026 reaffirms Sohar University’s commitment to supporting human development, building strategic partnerships with various sectors, and contributing to the preparation of qualified national competencies that meet the needs of the local and regional labor markets.
