Sohar University Implements a Leadership Development Program for Second-Line Leaders

As part of its ongoing commitment to developing national competencies and strengthening its institutional leadership system, Sohar University organized a five-day specialized training program titled “Preparing the Second Line of Leadership at Sohar University.” The program was held in conjunction with Staff Development Week, reflecting the University’s dedication to investing in human capital and building future administrative leaders capable of meeting upcoming challenges.

The program was delivered in collaboration with Al Bayan Training Institute and facilitated by certified trainer Dr. Safwat Mustafa, who brings extensive experience in administrative leadership and leadership development. The training content combined theoretical foundations with practical applications in a professional and interactive format.

The program aimed to empower promising administrative leaders with modern leadership skills, while strengthening concepts of strategic planning, decision-making, and change management, particularly in the areas of governance, human resource development, and institutional performance enhancement.

It included a series of interactive sessions and applied workshops focusing on transformational leadership, building high-performance teams, effective communication, and practical models for preparing second-line leaders as a key pillar for ensuring institutional sustainability and the continuity of knowledge and expertise transfer within the University.

Program organizers emphasized that developing administrative leadership is a strategic approach that enhances institutional readiness, supports operational continuity with efficiency and flexibility, and contributes to aligning institutional goals with national development priorities. This program forms part of a broader series of initiatives and training programs implemented by the Human Resources Department, represented by the Staff Development Section at Sohar University, under its annual staff development plan aimed at fostering a culture of excellence and innovation and building the future of national leadership.
