Sohar University’s Academic Support Unit Participated in the Regional MENAWCA Conference

Regional MENAWCA Conference

Sohar University’s  Student Academic Support Unit recently participated actively in the Middle East and North Africa Writing Centers Alliance (MENAWCA) Conference. This conference is considered an important platform for exchanging expertise and learning about the latest practices in the field of supporting academic writing skills across the region.

During the conference activities, the Unit presented a specialised research paper entitled: “Strategies for Enhancing Student Engagement with the Writing Centre”. The paper focused on reviewing and analysing innovative methods that writing centres can adopt to increase student uptake and motivate them to make the maximum use of the services offered, which directly contributes to improving the quality of their academic output.

This unique participation came as part of the Unit’s continuous efforts to develop methods of student support at Sohar University. The initiative aimed to enhance the engagement of the university’s students with the Writing Centre, stemming from the University’s belief in the importance of writing skills as a fundamental pillar for academic achievement. This step is part of the Unit’s broader vision to elevate the level of academic learning across the University.
