Sohar University Organizes Staff Development Week to Enhance Workplace Culture and Build Academic and Administrative Excellence

As part of its ongoing commitment to empowering staff and fostering professional growth, Sohar University organized its Staff Development Week from 1–3 September 2025 for the First Semester 2025/2026. The program, organize by the Staff Development section under the Human Resources Department, reflects the university’s dedication to enhancing staff skills and cultivating a culture of professional and administrative excellence in line with the evolving landscape of higher education and the workplace.

The event commenced with an opening address by Dr. Hamdan bin Sulaiman Al-Fazari, Vice Chancellor of Sohar University, who welcomed employees, expressed his appreciation for their efforts during the previous academic year, and highlighted key achievements of both staff and students. He also reviewed the latest research milestones, international rankings attained by the university, and presented the strategic plan for the academic year 2025/2026, encouraging staff to embrace dedication and passion in their roles.

Throughout the week, employees engaged in a series of academic and administrative sessions. The academic track focused on embedding Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into courses, strategies for promoting  student interaction, curriculum desgin and outcomes-based education, and the effective use of technology for assessment and feedback. Meanwhile, the administrative track included sessions on report writing skills, cybersecurity awareness, stress management and productivity, and effective workplace communication.

The program also featured special recognition ceremonies, where outstanding employees were honored for excellence in teaching, research, and outstanding service. Additionally, long-serving staff members who had completed 10 and 20 years of service (22 employees in total) were celebrated, alongside editorial teams of the university’s academic journals.

A dedicated induction program for new employees was also part of the week, introducing them to the university’s facilities, e-services, and academic policies, while providing workshops on quality systems and outcome-based education.
