Sohar University’s Procurement and Contracts Department Achieves ISO 9001:2015 Certification in Quality Management

In a new milestone that adds to Sohar University’s record of institutional achievements, the Procurement and Contracts Department has successfully obtained the ISO 9001:2015 certification in Quality Management Systems. The certification was awarded after the department fulfilled all requirements and standards set by the certifying body, reflecting the university’s commitment to enhancing institutional efficiency and applying best global practices in governance and administrative excellence.

Dr. Hamdan bin Suleiman Al-Fazari, Vice Chancellor of the University, expressed his pride in this achievement stating that the certification is a testament to the university’s significant and ongoing efforts to embed a culture of quality and institutional excellence.  He further noted that this milestone aligns with the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 and contributes to enhancing the university’s regional and international competitiveness.

Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Muqbali, PVC, Administration and Financial Affairs, highlighted that this international certification represents a qualitative addition to the university’s institutional transformation journey.  Achieving ISO 9001:2015 confirms that the department has established well documented processes, fostered integration among various university units and strengthened principles of governance. The department’s full reliance on clear policies and procedures has directly contributed to reducing administrative risks and improving satisfaction levels among internal and external stakeholders -reinforcing trust in the university’s administrative systems.

He further emphasized that Sohar University places strong importance on strengthening its institutional framework and enhancing organizational capabilities as part of its strategic plan, and that this achievement marks a key milestone in consolidating the confidence of the academic community and external partners.

Mr. Bader bin Said Al-Zaabi, Manager of the Procurement and Contracts Department, explained that the certification came as a result of intensive efforts focused on policy development, staff training and the implementation of a comprehensive internal review system.
