In a step towards empowering students and graduates with practical skills and preparing them for the job market, as well as aligning with the university’s strategic plan to enrich the student experience, Sohar University launched Training Fair 2025 on Monday, February 17, 2025. The three-day event, held on campus under the patronage of H.E. Ahmed bin Saeed bin Abdullah Al-Sharqi, Member of the Shura Council representing the Wilayat of Liwa, aims to enhance training and employment opportunities by providing a platform that connects students and graduates with leading institutions from both the public and private sectors. Al Badi Investment Holding is the organizing partner of the event, reflecting the university’s commitment to institutional effectiveness, sectoral empowerment, and supporting national talent.
The first day of the fair began with the inauguration of the Graduates’ Scientific Output Corner, which showcased an outstanding collection of scientific and literary works that highlight graduates’ academic achievements and creativity. This was followed by the Training Exhibition, featuring 19 participating organizations from various sectors. This gathering provided students with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with employers and explore available training opportunities.
The fair also featured a series of specialized training workshops, designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge required in the job market. These workshops included: Taxes and their Impact on Career Development, E-commerce and Marketing, Personal Planning, Market Trends in the Omani Labor, Logistics Operations and Professional CV.
Regarding the significance of the event, Ms. Maryam Al-Shibli, Manager of Career Guidance Services and alumni, stated: “At Sohar University, we strongly believe in the significance of practical training in preparing students and equipping them for the demands of the job market. We continuously strive to provide them with the practical and professional skills that enhance their readiness, whether through training opportunities, professional programs, or field visits that familiarize them with real work environments. We also encourage our students to make the most of their university years by developing their skills and attending such training forums and job fairs, which offer them the opportunity to connect directly with employers and gain a closer understanding of labor market requirements.”
The Training Fair 2025 will continue over the coming days with more interactive sessions, specialized workshops, and networking opportunities with employers. This initiative reinforces Sohar University’s role in bridging education and the job market, supporting Oman Vision 2040’s goal of developing young national talent.
