About the Student Activities Department
The Student Activities Department at Sohar University is the official body responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising a wide range of extracurricular activities aimed at developing students’ skills and nurturing their talents. These activities span across religious, cultural, scientific, artistic, athletic, and social domains. The department plays a vital role in promoting creativity and innovation, encouraging student engagement, and preparing them for impactful participation in both local and international events and competitions. It also strengthens community engagement by involving local organizations and stakeholders in student-led initiatives, helping build a generation of capable, community-oriented leaders.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Showcasing student talents, innovations, and creative achievements.
- Developing a comprehensive operational plan for student activities each academic year.
- Organizing dynamic student events, workshops, and training programs.
- Representing the university in national and international competitions and events.
- Strengthening community partnerships by involving the local community in student programs.
- Hosting festivals, forums, and conferences that enrich the student experience.
- Coordinating university-wide and national-level championships and competitions in various student activity fields.

The Department of Student Activities enhances the student’s capabilities physically and seeks to build a healthy university life culture, through various and varied sports programs. The department also seeks to open wider sporting domains such as external and internal partnerships, organizing tournaments and preparing quarterly and annual periodicals. On the other hand, sport activity oversees the Rovers clan at the university and enhances the importance of scout camps and excursions.
