Nurturing Artistic Talent Through International Hackathon

Sohar University served as the official sponsor of the International Hackathon (ARAB ARTATHON 2024), organized by Talinko Global for Talent and Innovation under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Taghreed Turki Al Said. Sohar University, in collaboration with the Omani Volunteers Network – Taawun and Sohar Port and Free zone, hosted the first phase of the “Volunteer Passport” program, which comprised three training workshops: (Volunteer Work Regulations) , (Management and Implementation of Volunteer Projects) and (First Aid). In line with its community engagement role, Sohar University, in collaboration with the Student Guidance Department, organized an awareness workshop titled “Safety Is Not an Option, It Is a Way of Life,” delivered by trainer Ahlam Al-Sunaidi. Sohar University Wins First Place in “We Are Oman” Competition

Sohar University secured first place in the “We Are Oman” competition as the Best Higher Education Institution in implementing the “We Are Oman” program, in recognition of its outstanding efforts in enhancing student participation and promoting national values. ICCAUni Forum

Sohar University Organizes the First ICCAUni Forum to Empower Omani Youth in Conference Management

With the participation of 11 higher education institutions and the presence of external community representatives and stakeholders, Sohar University organized the first ICCAUni Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). The forum aimed to equip Omani youth with skills in organizing international conferences, strengthen the link between academia and industry, and promote Oman as a destination for business tourism. The initiative reflects the University’s commitment to community engagement and strategic partnerships in line with Oman Vision 2040.

This phase focused on several key themes, including: innovating sustainable community initiatives, digital volunteering and the use of artificial intelligence, public relations and reputation building and community marketing and identity development. The phase was delivered by specialized trainers in the field of volunteer and community work, aiming to strengthen leadership skills among volunteers and enable them to design and implement impactful and sustainable community initiatives.This program reflects Sohar University’s commitment to supporting volunteerism, building youth capacities, and promoting community engagement in line with sustainable development goals.

Sohar University Hosts the Launch of “Khalajat Qalb” Poetry Collection

Launch of the Third ALECSO Forum for Twinning Arab Universities at Sohar University

The Third ALECSO Forum for Twinning Arab Universities was launched at Sohar University under the theme “The Productive University.” The event is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and ALECSO, in collaboration with the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and will run for two days. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in the presence of H.E. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, along with representatives of universities and international organizations.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Abdullah Abu Al Kashk, Assistant Dean of the College of Computing and Information Technology at Sohar University, who highlighted the latest intelligent applications in the medical field, particularly in nephrology, while emphasizing the importance of applying artificial intelligence technologies to support healthcare practices and improve the quality of medical care.

Sohar University Expands Its Community Impact through Collaboration with Government Institutions

In line with Sohar University’s commitment to serving the community and strengthening partnerships with government entities, the Office of the Governor of North Al Batinah implemented a training workshop for its employees on the “Ejada” system, targeting between 50 and 60 participants.
