It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Sohar University, a pioneering institution that has proudly served the Sultanate of Oman for more than two decades. As the first private university in Oman—and the second university established after Sultan Qaboos University—Sohar University has played a significant role in shaping higher education and contributing to national developments through the preparation of qualified human capital.
Since its establishment, the University has graduated thousands of students across a wide range of disciplines, aligned with both local and global labour market needs. All our academic programs are designed to deliver high-quality education that equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to succeed in an evolving professional environment. Through our six Faculties, we offer a comprehensive portfolio of academic programs that cater to diverse student aspirations.
At the postgraduate level, Sohar University offers Masters and PhD programs. We remain committed to expanding our postgraduate offerings to further support the labour market with highly qualified professionals across multiple fields. In addition, the University has graduated the first batch of PhD students, marking an important milestone in our academic journey. We will continue to introduce postgraduate programs in other disciplines, enabling students to pursue advanced studies within Oman.
Sohar University has developed and implemented its Strategic Plan in alignment with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, focusing on six Strategic Thrusts: Academic Excellence, Community & Industry Engagement, Global Profile, Student Experience, Institutional Effectiveness, and Research and Innovation. Through these thrusts, the University aims to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, strengthen partnerships with industry and the local community, expand its international collaborations, enrich the overall student journey, improve governance, sustainability, and operational efficiency. In addition, the Strategic Plan emphasizes innovation, applied research, and knowledge transfer to support national development priorities. This strategic direction enables Sohar University to contribute effectively to human capital development, economic diversification, and societal advancement in Oman.

Research and innovation are central to our Mission. We are actively working to establish research chairs and patents, in collaboration with public and private institutions in Oman and abroad. Furthermore, we are expanding partnerships with local, regional, and international universities, research centres and the community to enhance knowledge exchange and increase research output leading to remarkable achievements in the university global profile, rankings and sustainability impact.
