Within the framework of cooperation between Sohar University and private sector companies under the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry OCCI, students of the College of Computer and Information Technology at Sohar University provide digital solutions to solve the problems and challenges that hinder the growth of companies. Several companies have presented the issues and challenges they face in the field of information technology. After deliberation, the projects were assigned to several faculty students who have skills and experiences in programming and design to find successful solutions through intelligent applications. These applications facilitate the work of companies in the management of products and sales and the field of accounting. The solutions that students work on also help in marketing and promoting products.
It is noteworthy that the College of Computer and Information Technology at Sohar University offers diploma and bachelor's degrees in four programs, namely information technology, computing and multimedia, web engineering, and network and database management. The college also offers a master's program in computer science.
In pursuit of keeping pace with technological development and expanding programs, the university recently obtained approval to add a new program, Software Engineering, which aims to provide students with the necessary experience and knowledge in designing and developing systems and software.
To help part-time public and private sector employees enroll in the university and continue their studies along with their full-time job, the college has opened the evening study program.
The college also provides the opportunity to obtain internationally recognized certificates from leading institutions in computer and information technology such as Adobe, Oracle, Huawei, Red Hat Academy and Cisco, after passing the required exams. Finally, Sohar University is proud to be one of the few universities in the Sultanate to have received institutional accreditation by the Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation. Most of our computing programs are also accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
