
On Wednesday 11th Dec, 2019 and under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Saeed bin Sulaiman Al-Aufi, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Sohar University celebrated the graduation of 698 students from the 18th cohort of its students which reached to 1362 graduates, in the presence of a number of Excellences, honorees, dignitaries of Sohar and parents in addition to members of the boards of governors and academics as well as University administrative staff. The ceremony was held on the University's amphitheatre.
The number of graduates from the Faculty of Engineering reached 327 graduates, and the Faculty of Education and Arts has 247 graduates, while the graduates of the Faculty of Computing & Information Technology reached 124 graduates. They were distributed on masters and bachelor’s degrees in addition to educational qualification diploma, advanced diploma and diploma.
The ceremony started with National Anthem and then recitation from the Holy Quran, after that Professor Barry Winn, Vice Chancellor of the University, delivered his speech, in which he thanked the Guest of honour of the ceremony and all the attendees for sharing graduates’ joys, and congratulated all graduates on the occasion of their graduation which we all are proud of.
The graduate Asmaa bint Hassan bin Ali Al Balushi who holds a master’s degree in general Curriculum and Methods of teaching gave address on behalf of her colleagues in which she expressed her joy at this achievement and their gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, Calling on Allah to protect him as he always cares on educational opportunities to all Omanis
Then, His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Saeed bin Sulaiman Al-Aufi, honored the graduates with the highest grades accompanied with their parents. His Excellency then awarded certificates to all graduates.
