
Sohar University is proud to announce that it has been awarded its certificate of Institutional Accreditation by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Chairman of the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA), His Excellency Dr Abdullah Al-Sarmi, and the CEO of the OAAA, Dr Salim Radhawi.
To receive the accreditation certificate on behalf of the University were the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr. Jamal Al-Ojaily, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Hasan Ehsan; the Vice Chancellor, Professor Barry Winn; the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Hamza Edrees, and the Director of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, Ms. Gweneth O’Gorman.
The awarding of this certificate of accreditation indicates that the University has met all the standards required by the OAAA which are closely aligned with international standards of best practice. The Chairman and CEO of the OAAA congratulated Sohar University on this achievement and its continued commitment to enhance and develop higher educational provision in the Sultanate.
In recognition of this achievement, Mr. Jamal Al-Ojaily, The Chairman of the Board of Governors, said: “The University is delighted to accept this award and confirms its commitment to achieving its mission and vision and playing a pivotal role in the development of education and research in Oman.” He thanked all the staff and students of Sohar University for their efforts and dedication to help building a knowledge nation. Furthermore, Mr. Jamal thanked the Chairman and CEO of the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority for their continued support to ensuring that education in the Sultanate meets international standards.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Barry Winn expressed his delight at the University achieving institutional accreditation.
