On Thursday 12th Dec and under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Suad bint Muhammad bin Ali Al Lawatiya, Minister of Arts Affairs, The University celebrated the graduation of the second cohort of its 18th graduation in the presence of a number of Excellencies, honorees of Sohar and graduates’ parents, in addition to members of both University Boards; Directors & Governors, academic and administrative staff. The ceremony was held on the amphitheatre inside the campus.
The number of graduates was 664 graduates including 341 from Faculty of Business, 278 from the Faculty of Language Studies, and 45 from Faculty of Law. Distributed on master's and bachelor's degrees, advanced diploma and diploma.
Professor Barry Winn, VC delivered a speech in which he thanked stakeholders, attendees and even audiences in and out Oman watched both ceremonies through Oman TV or the live stream on YouTube. He also welcomed the guest of honour and all attendees appreciating all contributions and sharing such pleasant moments with graduates and parents. He added that graduates are University ambassadors and the future of Oman, they should be ready for the coming life stage wishing them all success.
On behalf of his colleagues and fellow graduates, Mazen bin Saeed bin Sulaiman Al-Ghashry, who holds a bachelor’s degree in law, gave the graduates’ speech in which he stated “This day is great for us graduates and our parents who waited such happy moments as we also waited, they suffered in silence to reach with us to the stage, our deep thanks to Allah and to all supported us to be here now.
