A Bachelor’s degree program is offered in Law and is taught in Arabic. Learning at the Faculty of Law is more than simply a classroom experience: a fully-functional, on-campus Moot Court, which enacts simulated legal cases, supports the development of legal advocacy. Also, students visit real courts to watch the proceedings and to gain an understanding of how what they learn at university will be applied in the real world. This strong and on-going connection with the legal profession at work ensures that Faculty of Law curricula are kept relevant to contemporary legal issues.

The Bachelor of Laws program at Sohar University aims to:

  • Provide students with legal qualifications for legal careers in all administrative, economic and social fields.
  • Extract the analytical skills needed to solve legal problems and find the necessary solutions.
  • Support students with theoretical knowledge that helps in solving issues related to commercial and economic transactions of modern business.
  • Prepare legal professionals capable of scientific research and legal analysis to contribute to the development of Omani legislation.
  • Valuation of legal theories and basic comparative experiences in all legal profession of graduate students to serve Omani society within the ethical values, independent and collective work.

Graduates who hold a degree awarded by the Faculty of Law are qualified to practice law but will possess knowledge and skills that can be applied to a host of professions. For example, many companies need compliance officers to check that accounting meets legal requirements. Insurance companies employ law graduates, as they appreciate their eye for detail and negotiating skills – as do major retailers. Publishers, including the news media, consult or employ lawyers to ensure the veracity and legal standing of their information before it is printed. A degree in Law should be seen as the beginning of career aspirations rather than as a culmination.
