A partnership agreement was signed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Industrial Innovation Academy (Madayn) and Sohar University for promoting Intaj Suhar for Advanced Manufacturing. This agreement would contribute to the growth of Intaj Suhar to support the manufacturing sector and industrial innovation in Oman. Besides, it will support the company in providing manufacturing services and specialized industrial support in the field of research and development, reverse engineering, manufacturing of precision parts, mold manufacturing, production tools and specialized spare parts for various industrial companies inside and outside the Sultanate, in addition to developing Omani cadres. The company will continue to generate knowledge and transfer advanced technology to localize it in the Sultanate.
The establishment of the Intaj Suhar for Advanced Manufacturing came through the success of implementing two national projects for the manufacturing sector within the ninth five-year plan. These two projects are the center for advanced manufacturing and the leading factory for molds and manufacturing tools. The two projects contribute to the provision of spare parts, molds and production tools for the industrial sector, in addition to research and developing Omani cadres. Therefore, the success of their achievement resulted in the establishment of the Intaj Sohar for Advanced Manufacturing. According to the partnership agreement signed between the three parties, it will be upgraded to a higher level in order to open up to all industrial sectors to take advantage of its technical capabilities and available equipment.
Sohar University agreed to continue incubating the company within its campus and provide the necessary support to continue its work while the Industrial Innovation Academy will provide administrative and technical support to the company. The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion will be the supervisor of this company. Thereby, the company will strengthen the industrial sector in the Sultanate and it will push advanced manufacturing industries to broader horizons, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
Intaj Suhar project has proven its ability in the fields of industrial research and development, knowledge generation, technology transfer, and meeting various industrial requirements, whether in manufacturing molds and specialized spare parts, developing Omani cadres, or finding industrial solutions. It has also fulfilled more than 150 industrial requests received from large, medium and small companies. Intaj Suhar, through its work, has proven the high quality of its services and its commitment to achieving work within the agreed time. It has also played a major role in the success of the manufacturing incubator, which was established by Sohar University in cooperation with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada).
Intaj Suhar Project is currently working to increase its productivity and work efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs and compete with imported products and services. The partnership agreement signed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Sohar University and the Academy of Industrial Innovation will help in ensuring the progress and sustainability of the project.
