Awarding Outstanding Students
A ceremony to honor outstanding students is one of the most important events that is organised at Sohar University, and the university pays great attention to sustain outstanding students as the real wealth of the nation. The ceremony encourages students to exert greater effort to continue excelling in their respective disciplines, highlighting that reaching excellence requires significant effort and labour. Each year, outstanding students who have achieved the highest academic scores (GPA) are recognized and felicitated. Deans and their representatives award outstanding students based on lists compiled by faculty deans. Parents have a significant role in ensuring that their children have an atmosphere conducive to creativity and effort.
SU Outstanding Students Award Ceremony 2021/2022
The six faculties of Sohar University conducted a ceremony to honor outstanding students who received the highest-grade point averages (GPA) for the academic year 2021–2022. In accordance with the lists of faculty deans, the deans and their representatives presented the award certificates to the outstanding students and expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the students. The deans also stated that Sohar University will continue to direct its efforts and provide services to outstanding students. The students concluded by expressing gratitude to the Faculty Dean and the staff for their continuous support. They saw this ceremony as evidence that their efforts were being recognized, which motivated them to continue working hard.
On December 5, 2022, the students from Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Law were honored , while the students from Faculty of Education and the Arts as well as the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology were honored on December 7, 2022. On December 8, 2022, students who excelled in the Faculty of Language Studies and the Faculty of Engineering received awards.
A total of 155 students from across all six academic departments of the university received awards. At the ceremony, fifteen students from the Faculty of Business were awarded, sixteen students from the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology were felicitated, seventy-two students from the Faculty of Education and Arts were honoured, nineteen students from the Faculty of Engineering, thirty students from the Faculty of Language Studies, and three students from the Faculty of Law were acknowledged.
