Biography

Dr. Said has a Ph.D. in Finance from Hull University in the UK, awarded in July 2018 and it was a granted scholarship from the University of Hull. He did his Master of Science (MSc) in Financial Management (Pass with Distinction) at University of Hull in the UK, awarded in January 2013, (This course is part of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)). Also, he did his Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business-Major in Finance at Sultan Qaboos University (College of Commerce and Economics) in Sultanate of Oman, awarded January 1999. Dr. Said also, has a professional qualification as Accountant Certified Professional Approved (ACPA) Certificate from Arabic Accountant Centre in Jordan, Awarded 2004. He studied one-year intensive comprehensive advanced Accounting, Finance and Auditing Courses in order to get this certificate.

Moreover, he has acquired various academic experience and skills in teaching and research in the fields of finance and accounting, in the UK and Sultanate of Oman. He got an opportunity while he was studying in the UK at the University of Hull to teach financial management course for one semester. This helped him to acquire good experience, skills and knowledge in teaching, especially in the way how to deal with students from different backgrounds. He is a member of faculty of Business at Accountancy Program at Sohar University since he has been joined the university on January 2023. He has already taught 5 courses since he joined the university; Principal of Accounting, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Cost Accounting and Financial Reporting and Analysis.

Furthermore, Dr. Said acquired wide experience and skills in the public sector work in various areas such as in finance, accounting, auditing, risk management, procurement, HR, leadership, administrative and support services, as he worked in different positions in various Ministries in the public sector. This wide work experience in financial, administrative and support services work help him to share it with our students at Sohar University. For example, he worked in the period between 2003-2020 as Finance and Administration Manager at Ministry of Housing – In the North Al Batinah Governorate. Before that in 2001-2003 he worked as Budget Head Section in Finance Department at Ministry of Electricity and Water, Directorate of Electricity. He started his first job in 1999-2001 as Accountant in the Foreign Purchase Section in Finance Department at Ministry of Electricity and Water, Directorate of Electricity. Finally, Sohar University believe that the work experience in both academic and industry, qualifications, quality and skills that Dr. said has, added value to our university.
