Dr Mahmoud Mohamed Said Shalaby
Biography
My name is Professor Mahmoud Mohamed Said. I earned my Bachelor degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Science, Biochemistry Department at Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt, 1995). I got my Master degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Science, Biochemistry Department at Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt, 2001). I earned my Doctor in Philosophy Degree in Biochemistry in collaboration between Faculty of Science, Biochemistry Department at Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt) and Department of Experimental Pathology and Tumor Biology, Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences (Nagoya, Japan) in 2006. I got a postdoctoral scholarship to Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Department of Experimental Pathology and Tumor Biology (Nagoya, Japan) in 2007. I got my Professorship degree in Biochemistry in 2018 (Supreme Council of Universities, Cairo, Egypt). My main research aims to understand molecular cell signaling related to experimental tumor biology and finding preventive or therapeutic modalities using either natural products or synthetic/semisynthetic compounds. Through collaboration with different research centers, many natural products were used, as prophylactic, preventive or therapeutic agents against different experimental diseases, such as liver injury, neurotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, hepatic encephalopathy, as well as tumors, both in vivo and in vitro. In addition, the use of nanotechnology and nanoparticles preparation for the treatment of cancer, both in vivo and in vitro, was investigated. The study for the role of microRNAs as diagnostic and predictive biomarkers for the diagnosis as well as response to therapy in different human cancers, including liver and breast, was also unveiled. My list of publications includes 49 articles published in International and National Journals.
