Dr Ahmed Abubakar
Biography
Dr. Ahmed Abubakar is an academic with over a decade of experience in university teaching, research, and academic leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Management (Strategic Management) from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), where his research focused on organizational competitiveness, particularly in higher education institutions. His work led to the development of a model for university competitiveness in response to the dynamic and evolving educational landscape.
Dr. Abubakar also holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Business Administration from the University of Abuja and an M.Sc. in Business Administration from Nasarawa State University, Nigeria. He has furthered his professional development through a Mini-LLM in International Business Law from the London School of Business & Finance, UK, and entrepreneurship training at Robert Gordon University (RGU), Scotland.
His research interests lie in strategic management, organizational performance, competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and higher education administration. He has authored over 30 scholarly articles published in ISI/Scopus-indexed and peer-reviewed journals and is the author of Establishing Competitive University: A Strategic Management Perspective, a book aimed at supporting institutional leaders in building competitive higher education institutions.
Dr. Abubakar is currently heading Business and Commercial Law Programme at the Faculty of Business, Sohar University, Oman. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate business management courses and supervised numerous research projects at both levels. He is actively involved in academic advising, examination coordination, and curriculum development and has initiated and led several academic programs, including the student internship initiative.
An active contributor to academic and professional communities, Dr. Abubakar frequently presents at international conferences and serves as a discussant and resource person. He is affiliated with multiple professional bodies and has received several commendations, including the Distinguished Global Scholar Award from the Academy for Global Business Advancement (AGBA), USA.
