Under the patronage of Dr. Mohammed Al Maqbali, Pro Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Sohar University welcomed participants of the 2025/2026 Student Exchange Program on Sunday, 19 July 2026, marking the launch of the academic, training, and cultural program designed for students from the University’s partner institutions across the Arab region and beyond. The welcoming ceremony was attended by a number of university administrators.
The program reflects Sohar University’s commitment to strengthening academic collaboration with partner universities outside the Sultanate of Oman and expanding its international partnerships. It provides students with opportunities to gain academic and professional experience, exchange knowledge and cultures, and build meaningful academic and personal relationships that prepare them to compete successfully in local, regional, and international workplaces.
This year’s program welcomes 24 female students from eight Arab and international universities. The students undertake a training placement at Sohar University over the course of several weeks.
The exchange program offers a comprehensive package of activities combining practical training within the University, field placements with public and private sector organizations, professional workshops, industrial visits, and cultural and recreational activities. These experiences are designed to enhance the participants’ professional and personal skills, improve their employability, and introduce them to Omani culture and the Sultanate’s rich historical and tourism heritage.
The program commenced with an orientation session that included an official welcome, an introduction to Sohar University, a welcoming address, an overview of the Student Exchange Program, a presentation on health and safety procedures on campus, and an introduction to the services provided by the Career Guidance, Training and Alumni Services, as well as student services. The orientation concluded with a guided tour of the University’s facilities, helping participants integrate into campus life and maximize the benefits of the program from its very first day.
In return, during the 2025/2026 academic year, Sohar University secured 28 training placements for its own students through the Student Exchange Program at partner universities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and Malaysia. These opportunities enable Sohar University students to gain valuable academic and professional experience in diverse educational environments while reflecting the University’s growing network of international partnerships with higher education institutions.
The program is implemented through the University’s Career Guidance and Alumni Services, in collaboration with the academic Faculties, administrative departments, and partner institutions. It reflects Sohar University’s commitment to providing a comprehensive educational experience that prepares graduates to compete successfully at the local, regional, and international levels, while reinforcing its position as a leading higher education institution in fostering international academic partnerships and developing student talent.
