A National Cultural Evening at Sohar University in Celebration of the Sultan Haitham Visit

National Cultural Evening

In celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haitham visit to Wilayat Sohar for the performance of Eid Al Adha prayers, Sohar University organized a cultural and poetry evening titled “Royal Necklaces” on Wednesday evening, 20 May 2026, at the University campus. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Saud Al Hinai, Wali of Sohar, and attended by sheikhs, dignitaries, elders of the wilayat, and members of the community.

The evening commenced with readings from the Royal Speech presented by Dr. Ali Al Manai and Dr. Huda Al Zadjali. The readings reflected national and humanitarian themes embodying the noble values emphasized in the Royal Speeches in supporting the nation’s development journey and strengthening national identity.

The event also featured a collection of poetry recitals ranging between classical Arabic poetry and Nabati poetry, presented by a distinguished group of poets. Poet Dawood Al Kiyoumi and poet Hisham Al Saqri delivered several classical poems addressing national, social, and humanitarian themes, while poet Dr. Khalid Al Alawi and poet Abdulhamid Al Douhani presented traditional poetry that reflected the spirit of Omani heritage and the authenticity of poetic expression.

The evening witnessed remarkable engagement from attendees, who praised the cultural and literary quality of the program and its rich national and cultural themes that reflected the depth and diversity of the poetic scene in the Sultanate of Oman.

This evening was organized in celebration of Sultan Haitham visit to Wilayat Sohar for the performance of Eid Al Adha prayers, and as an affirmation of the University’s cultural and community role in supporting national and cultural events, strengthening the presence of literature and intellectual discourse within society, and reinforcing the authentic values upon which this blessed land was founded.
