Award at NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025

In a new achievement added to its outstanding record, a team from Sohar University won the ‘Best Team’ award in the ‘Art and Technology’ category at the NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2025. The event was organized by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Ibra, and took place from 4 to 5 October 2025.

This qualitative achievement followed the active participation of the University, represented by students from the Computer and Information Technology Society. The winning team consisted of three Sohar University students who managed to develop an innovative project that combined artistic creativity with the advanced use of space technologies and data available from NASA.

The team demonstrated high efficiency in formulating creative solutions that aligned with the challenges presented by the Hackathon, qualifying them to secure the award in the ‘Art and Technology’ category. This victory is a significant addition to the achievements of Sohar University students and highlights the quality of education and guidance they receive. It particularly reflects the depth of the student experience which encourages innovation and the practical application of knowledge.
