International ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certification

In a new accomplishment added to its journey of institutional excellence, the Information Technology Services at Sohar University has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 International Certification for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). This makes it the first private higher education institution in the Sultanate to achieve this standard.

This accreditation was granted after the Department fulfilled all the requirements and standards set by the certifying body, TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH. This step confirms the University’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of its digital infrastructure and implementing best global practices in data and information protection.

This certification serves as international recognition of the University’s adherence to global standards in managing information security. The ISO certification is awarded to organisations that commit to specific criteria established by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), following a review of their systems by the accredited body to ensure compliance. This accreditation is evidence of the quality and efficiency of the systems in place, which boosts the confidence of partners and external bodies and contributes to improving the University’s internal performance.
